TS Integrators will be making a selection of analysis applications for showing compliance to 14 CFR Part 27/29 Subpart E as commercial off the shelf products.
TS Integrators is developing commercially available software tailored to the tasks of showing compliance to 14 CFR Part 27/29 Subpart E. These applications reduce client analysis labor hours and rapidly produce compliance report data presentations. The analysis methods and data presentations have been previously accepted as means to comply with the applicable regulations. The following projects are in active or planned development.
TS Dynamics automates the analysis and reporting of flight test data for a showing of compliance to 14 CFR 29.907 including the evaluation of common Installation Manual Limits.
TS Dynamics imports flight test data using custom import plugins supporting common file formats including Dewesoft, Matlab, LabVIEW or custom client file formats as desired. The channels of interest from the imported data files are processed with an FFT optimized for amplitude accuracy, and peak values for each frequency bin and each maneuver are stored for subsequent display, limit checking, or reporting. Limit checking may be performed using Installation Manual supplied limit lines, and A:B comparisons may be performed to determine if a configuration change affected the engine from a vibration perspective.
TS Dynamics is able to process FFTs at a rate of 250 maneuvers/minute/channel on typical engineering laptop. A complete Flight Load Survey of 500 maneuvers with 24 accelerometers could be processed in as little as 48 minutes.
TS Dynamics is available for purchase. Alternatively, TS Integrators can be contracted to provide data analysis services using TS Dynamics.
The TS PowerTM application has been developed to automate installed turboshaft power available analysis and reporting. The analysis methods comply with accepted methods for showing compliance to 14 CFR 29.45(c)(e) and (f).
TS PowerTM is based on a plugin architecture which allows a common code base to call custom plugins to access client flight test data and engine manufacturer supplied cycle models. TS Integrators can create plugins for clients as a service, and can also supply plugin templates for clients to create their own plugins.
TS PowerTM is in active development. Select the link for additional details. Contact us for pricing and availability of plugins to support your engine cycle models.
TS Cooling will automate the analysis and reporting of flight test data for a showing of compliance to 14 CFR 29.1041-1049. TS Cooling will support standard correction methods detailed in 14 CFR 29.1043 as well as the Thermal Limit Correction (TLC) detailed in section AC 29.1043 of Advisory Circular 29-2C. TS Cooling also implements an optional Torque Limit Correction (QLC) which is an accepted analysis method for correcting test day power required (and thus test weight) to hot day power available. This optional correction method disconnects test weight from the test results and allows for more test flexibility.
The TS Power RT application is a companion to the TS Power application and is intended for real time use onboard the aircraft or in telemetry. TS Power RT provides test target calculation and realtime feedback on the running engine margins to allow the test team to efficiently conduct power available flight testing activities. TS Power RT uses the same cycle model plugin used in TS Power and calls an additional plugin that provides access to the client's data stream.
The TS Dynamics RT application is a companion to the TS Dynamics application and is intended for real time use onboard the aircraft or in telemetry. TS Dynamics RT provides digital filtering, FFT spectrum visualization, and limit checking for accelerometers and other dynamic measurements on the test aircraft. The FFT spectrum is specially windowed and tuned to maximize magnitude accuracy to support limit checking. Supported limits include bandpass limits, spectrum envelope limits, and point frequency limits.
TS Integrators developed software products contain no third party proprietary processing methods or tools:
TS Power has the ability to interface with engine cycle models through a plugin interface. Clients must possess the engine cycle models and an interface definition or user manual for the cycle model, and must possess or develop their own installation losses to interface their cycle model with TS Power. TS Integrators does not provide engine cycle models with TS Power. TS Integrators only provides an open interface to allow a developer to create a cycle model plugin interface. TS Integrators will develop plugin interfaces to client supplied cycle models with pricing supplied on request. The processing method used in TS Power follows guidance found in AC 29-2C section 29.45, and is also not a trade secret. No proprietary data or information is supplied with TS Power.
TS Cooling uses analysis methods described in 29.1043 and AC 29-2C.
Vibratory data processing is based on off-the-shelf processing algorithms such as common digital filters and windowed FFTs which are optimized for amplitude accuracy following standard off-the-shelf algorithms.
The value of TS Power, TS Cooling, and TS Dynamics is based on the labor hour savings that these commercial products provide through automation of analysis and reporting, along with being validated by a practicing DER as utilizing accepted methods for showing compliance. TS Integrators software products do not implement any trade secret processing methods.
The pricing structure for TS Integrators developed software spreads the initial software development cost across the projected user base with a multiyear return on investment. Digital license keys are supplied and are valid for the requested license period (one year minimum). Phone support is provided for the duration of the license period. An initial teleconference training session is provided with each new product licensed. Additional training sessions are available at the custom support rate.
Custom support includes custom plugin creation, additional or onsite training, software customization, etc. Custom support is provided at a straight time hourly rate which matches a typical billing rate for a certified software architect. This rate is less than the DER Services billing rate.
Clients purchasing software are often looking for reassurance that they will be able to access and reprocess their test data at any point in the future. All TS Integrators applications save all data, including raw data, processing configurations, and analyzed results in the open HDF5 file format. The HDF Group publishes a free viewer application for the file container, and HDF5 is widely used and supported in the scientific community. Data saved in this file format is expected to be accessible at any point in the future.
All TS Integrators supplied software will remain in active maintenance for a minimum of the duration of the license period. TS Integrators has partnered with a software development company with user support provided by TS Integrators. TS Integrators source code is maintained in a third-party cloud based software repository and is accessible by both TS Integrators and the software development partner. Should TS Integrators cease to be able to provide support for supplied software, clients will be provided with an option to engage TS Integrators' software development partner for software support. Following a formal notification that TS Integrators is no longer able to provide software support, clients will also be given the option to purchase a licensed copy of the software source code at a rate of three annual licenses minus any remaining prorated license period. The client will then be free to engage any third party for software support and may also in-source software support for their licensed source code.
