The TS PowerTM application automates installed power available processing and report presentations.
Most TC and STC applicants use MS Excel, MATLAB, or a similar tool to process their power available data. The typical labor hours to complete this task manually is 40 hours for a single flight test campaign. A new aircraft certification project will consist of several campaigns: mid envelope, high field, possibly hot field, and cold field. Often, the test team will visit some of these locations more than once as they encounter and overcome technical obstacles and eventually achieve the full desired operating envelope. Typical new aircraft certification projects could include a total of 5 weeks of labor hours analyzing power available data at a cost of more than $25,000. What if you want to try an alternate installation loss input or you receive a cycle model update from the engine manufacturer? How fast can you apply that update and manually reprocess the data? How long will you be able to keep an offsite test team at a test location waiting for engineering to confirm that they have all the needed data?
TS PowerTM incorporates a high level of automation to permit rapid data turnaround times. Fully analyze each day's power available test points with typically no more than 30 minutes of analysis time in TS PowerTM. Review margins from the prior flight and identify points that need to be flown again prior to the next flight. Reanalyze all existing data for a change in installation losses in just a few hours depending on the volume of existing data (throughput is limited only by engine cycle model convergence time, and does not require user interaction during the processing).
TS PowerTM outputs are formatted for final report presentation and includes data presentations which have been previously accepted as a showing of compliance to 29.45(c) and (f).
TS PowerTM is designed to save the client test execution time and is priced to save money over manual methods. The development cost is shared over the entire user base with all clients receiving annual updates for any new features or patches. It is not possible to save money by developing a similar application internally or by analyzing data manually.
Junior engineers need access to analysis tools to learn and grow in their field. The TS PowerTM application is therefore supplied as an annual site license with unlimited installations within your organization. Pricing is set annually and is the same for all clients. See examples of the major outputs of TS PowerTM below.
Custom features can be requested for consideration in the next annual release. Any client who needs a modification or addition to the software may engage TS Integrators LLC to provide the requested feature for a fee to the requesting company. Any requested proprietary or non-universal features would required an elevated annual support fee for the maintenance of a company-unique software branch.
TS PowerTM supports processing of transient maneuvers to visualize the engine margin response following an acceleration to a rating.
TS PowerTM
TS PowerTM provides finalized data presentations with Turbine Gas Temperature margins compared to the test cell rating sheet and the user specified pass-fail criteria for inclusion in certification reports. This data presentation format has been accepted in previous showings of compliance to 14 CFR 29.45(c).
TS PowerTM provides finalized data presentations with Power Assurance Check results compared the test cell rating sheet and the user specified pass-fail criteria for inclusion in certification reports. This data presentation format has been accepted in previous showings of compliance to 14 CFR 29.45(f).
TS PowerTM will incorporate a future feature to automate power available table creation and visualization of cycle model outputs across a spectrum of altitude and temperatures for various configurations and flight speeds.
TS PowerTM will incorporate a future feature to automatically categorize stable test points by altitude, temperature, airspeed, and engine configuration. Each categorized test point grouping will then be assembled into operating lines and plotted against the cycle model prediction. This data presentation is not normally used as a showing of compliance, but it is highly useful for identifying potential causes of installed power or power assurance discrepancies.
TS PowerTM may be proprietary, but it's file format is not. You will never loose access to your data as the base file container is the open source HDF5 format. All data, including raw data, saved processing configurations, and analyzed results are all saved in the open HDF5 file format. The HDF Group publishes a free viewer application for the file container, and HDF5 is widely used and supported in the scientific community. This file format was selected for it extensibility and nearly universal third party support to ensure that clients will never be locked out of their legacy data at any point in the future. Please consider using the HDF5 file format for your internal software projects, and please consider supporting the HDF Group, a non-profit organization.
TS PowerTM is in active development with new features added regularly. TS PowerTM will require a custom plugin to access your engine specific cycle model. Data importers are available for ASCII file types; custom import plugins are available to interface with proprietary file formats and online data servers.
